Darcy Carney
Owner
Darcy is the original Founder of Carney Consulting Group which she started in 2004. Darcy started her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand) and has since served in several CFO or controllership positions. Her previous positions included CFO for the commercial lending firm Alaska Growth Capital, now owned by Bristol Bay Native Corp and Mckinley Management, business manager for the private nonprofit National Education Association Alaska, and controller for an inventory-intense wholesale electrical supplier with ten stores. Darcy is also the co-owner of the Alaska Chip Company which she founded in 2003 with her husband, Ralph Carney. She received her accounting degree from Arizona State University and became a CPA in 1991. She is a member of the AICPA and the Alaska Society of CPAs. Darcy also has her QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
Very involved in her community, Darcy is a Past President of Soroptimist International of Anchorage and was Treasurer of the Alaska Aviation Museum. Darcy is currently serving as the Treasurer for Alaska Geographic. When she is not working or volunteering, she is actively enjoying the nature of Alaska, skiing, or hiking with her husband and her two adult daughters.
Haley Therrien
Owner
Haley is the eldest daughter of Darcy Carney and most recently joined the Carney Consulting Group team in 2025. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Accountancy from Ferris State University in 2020, and became a CPA in 2024. She completed her education in 2025 graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage with her Masters in Business Administration. Prior to joining Carney Consulting Group, Haley worked at Thomas, Head & Greisen as a senior staff accountant and worked directly with tax and audit clients. She is a member of the AICPA and the Alaska Society of CPAs. Haley also has her QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
Outside of her work at Carney Consulting Group, Haley enjoys spending time with her husband, and her two dogs. Avid outdoorspeople, they love spending time on the ocean, fishing, hiking, skiing, and snow machining. Haley prides herself on getting outside on a hike with her dogs everyday, rain, snow or shine.
Morgan MacConaugha Mitchell
Team Member
Morgan Mitchell joined Carney Consulting Group in 2017. She lives in Alaska and loves spending time outdoors, enjoying the beauty of the mountains and seasons. When she’s not working with clients, Morgan pours her love into her family and relaxes with her crochet creations.
She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Accounting at UAA and holds a Level 1 QuickBooks Online certification, which she uses to better support our clients’ bookkeeping and accounting needs.
Shannon Armstrong
Team Member
Shannon joined Carney Consulting Group in 2010 while stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base. She earned both her Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from New Mexico State University (2006). While stationed in Aviano Air Base, Italy, she completed her MBA through the University of Phoenix (2009). She also has her Level 1 QuickBooks Certificate.
Shannon has since settled in Virginia following her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force. Outside of work, she spends most of her time at her kids’ soccer games and practices. She enjoys staying active, loves running and walking her dog.
Kim Walters
Team Member
Kimberly Walters joined the Carney Consulting Group team in 2023, and as a lifelong Alaskan, she prides herself on having an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong work ethic, and a passion for building meaningful relationships. As the owner of The Gifted Basket, she's spent 25 years running a successful Alaska-based business known for creativity, reliability, and exceptional customer care. In addition to her entrepreneurial background, Kimberly is experienced in bookkeeping and QuickBooks Online, including her Level 2 QuickBooks Certificate.
Kimberly is known by her friends and family for her positive attitude and adaptability. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, camping, kayaking, and spending time with her family.
